Where does the pencil go?
You are up a lift with a stick of three-quarter EMT and a hand bender, and the phone in your pocket does not know what a shrink is.
OFFSET tells you where to put your marks — measured from the end of the pipe, in inches and sixteenths, the way it gets written on the pipe. Then it watches you make the bend.
Give it the height you need and the angle you want. Step the number a sixteenth at a time, or tap it and type it.
It draws the finished bend, and underneath it the stick as it is right now — straight, with the marks where the pencil actually goes.

The part nobody else does properly

Every bending app hands you a number and then goes back in your pocket. Which means the part where the mistake actually happens — the pull — goes unwatched. A calculator cannot tell you that you went to thirty-four when you wanted thirty.
OFFSET reads the angle off the phone's own tilt sensor. Rest it along the straight leg, tap Zero, and pull. A tone rises as you close on the angle and holds steady when you arrive — because at that moment both hands are on the handle and a foot is on the bender, and a screen is no use to anybody.
The angle is measured from wherever you zeroed, not from level. So the pipe does not have to be level and the floor does not have to be flat. It is measured from the pipe you actually have.
And then it learns
Your bender springs back. This one knows how much.
Steel does not stay where you put it. Pull a hand bender to thirty degrees, let go, and the conduit relaxes a few degrees short. Every journeyman compensates for that from memory. Every other app pretends the pipe is clay.
The phone never leaves the conduit, so it knows both numbers: the furthest you pulled, and where it settled when you released. The difference is your springback, and nothing has to be typed in.
A few bends later it stops guessing and starts telling you to pull to 33° for a 30° — for your bender, at your size, in your hands.

About the arithmetic
The taught numbers, not clever ones.
The multipliers are the field-standard values you were taught — 6, 2.6, 2, 1.4 and 1.2 — and they are deliberately not raw trigonometry. One over the sine of forty-five is 1.414, but 1.4 is what your bender is stamped with and what the journeyman beside you worked out in his head. An app that is quietly more precise than the trade reads as wrong.
Type any other angle and it falls back to the cosecant, because there is no taught figure to prefer — and it says on screen which of the two it used. You are entitled to know whether a number came from the book or from a sine.
Take-up belongs to the tool, not the pipe. Pick Klein, Ideal, Greenlee, Milwaukee, Gardner Bender or Southwire, in EMT or rigid, or build a profile from the figures stamped on your own. If a number disagrees with your bender, correct it — the correction is kept for that bender at that size, and everything after it uses your figure.

FAQ
Questions people ask first.
Does it work in metric?
No. This is the US edition: inches, sixteenths, trade sizes and NEC. Take-up, EMT and AWG do not translate to the rest of the world by changing a unit setting, so pretending otherwise would give somebody the wrong number rather than no number.
Do I really put my phone on the pipe?
Along the straight leg, or flat against the bender handle — whichever suits where you are standing. The reading is taken from wherever you zeroed it, so either works, and turning on the spot changes nothing.
Which bender does it assume?
None. You pick yours, and everything on screen is worked out for it. If a take-up disagrees with the figure stamped on your tool, correct it and it stays corrected for that bender at that size.
Can I bend an angle that isn't on the bender?
Yes — anything from one degree to ninety, in halves. The five marked angles use the taught multipliers; anything else uses the trigonometry those values approximate, and the app tells you which one it applied.
Does it need a signal?
Only to make the purchase. Every calculation, diagram and the gauge itself work with no signal at all.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. One purchase, once. An electrician buys a bender once; charging monthly for arithmetic would be renting you something you already own.
